Congratulations
are in order for Pravin Shingadia and Sabrina Whittle, two hardworking students
who recently passed a tough grading examination in recognition of their
efforts during training and regular class attendance. Pravin gained his
White grade and Sabrina received her Orange. Both passed with flying colours
and are living proof that World Kickboxing Association grades are not won
easily or awarded lightly.
Well
done! You both deserve it.
SFKK
Southern Open - September 15th 2002
Another
visit to Edgebarrow Leisure centre for SSK students, another chance
for some of our fighters to test their skills against opponents from
all over Southern England. Our fighters took part in the Kick Jitsu
and light continuous categories and as always they did us proud.
Spectators
were treated to some tough and entertaining fights,
Perry & Ringy Owens, James Caney, Tom Robinson, James Taylor and
Lian 'Pocket Rocket' Preston really did us proud.
Perry and Ringy gave a great display of fighting at all ranges in the
Kick Jitsu. Standing, taking the opponent to the ground and then working
for control and submission. It was plain to see that they were enjoying
themselves and not taking it all too seriously (they are brothers),
but it was nice to see two evenly matched and skillfull fighters at
work.
Tom, Perry, James Taylor and James Caney all fought
their hearts out in the light continuous men's. They also had great
support on the day; many thanks to all the students past and present
who came to give their support.
Our Pocket Rocket Lian Preston had two of the most exciting fights that
we've seen in a long time. She is living proof that size does NOT always
matter as she took on taller fighters in her rugged, explosive style
and had the spectators on the edge of their seats.
Lian, James T, James C, Perry, Ringy and Tom all walked away with well
deserved trophies for their efforts and some valuable fighting experience
under their belts. WELL DONE!!!!!!
As
soon as I get some more pictures from the day I'll post them here so
watch this space.
The
next SFKK tournament takes place on the 10th of November - See you there!
